Alison Forbes Van Hook

Program Director

Alison brings more than 20 years of experience advancing nonprofits through strategic leadership, donor engagement, and community partnership. Before relocating to Sun Valley, she worked in Los Angeles as an Executive Director, Development Director, and strategy consultant, including serving as Co-Executive Director of an award-winning program supporting students in under-resourced schools throughout LA County. In these roles, she helped organizations build long-term sustainability and navigate major transitions.

Since moving to Idaho with her family in 2016, Alison has partnered with nonprofits in the Wood River and Treasure Valleys as a consultant and Development Director. At Spur, she leads grantmaking processes and designs programs that strengthen nonprofit leadership and philanthropy.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University. Alison also completed advanced training in nonprofit leadership and management through the Annenberg Foundation’s Alchemy+ Nonprofit Leadership program, the California Center for Nonprofit Management’s Executive Director Bootcamp, the Executive Service Corps’ Developing Development program, and Cause Communications’ Communicating for Results workshops.
